What you need before your vehicle leaves the UAE, and who obtains it.
A permanent move requires valid residency in the destination country — a Saudi Iqama, a Qatar ID, or the equivalent. Without it, the vehicle cannot be cleared for import and we cannot accept the booking.
Permanent export
This is the standard case: the vehicle leaves the UAE and stays in the destination country. The document set is broadly the same across the GCC.
A copy of your own identification. Mandatory in every case.
Saudi Iqama, Qatar ID, or the equivalent for wherever the vehicle is going. This is what allows the car to be imported in your name.
Issued by the authority in the emirate of registration — Dubai RTA, Abu Dhabi Traffic, and so on. Required for every export, without exception.
Getting the export certificate
Where you obtained the vehicle decides who can process this.
We can handle it
For Dubai-registered vehicles, we obtain the export certificate on your behalf.

You apply online
Outside Dubai we cannot process the certificate for you. You apply online through the relevant authority — it is a straightforward process, and we will tell you exactly what to submit.
Whichever route you take, we return the number plates to the relevant RTA or Abu Dhabi Traffic office at no cost to you.
Customs clearance
Clearance is handled by the customs agents at the border. We coordinate it with them on your behalf where you would rather not deal with it directly — tell us when you book.
Temporary entry and the Carnet de Passage
If you are travelling with your vehicle rather than exporting it permanently, the paperwork is different. A Carnet de Passage lets a vehicle enter a country temporarily without paying import duty, provided it is re-exported within the permitted period. We coordinate the whole process through the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE).
Required for all Carnet movements. AED 170.
The original registration card must travel with the vehicle throughout the journey — not a copy.
The deposit is refundable on re-export. Issuance is a one-off fee. Both vary by destination — see below.

Figures above are indicative. The final deposit and issuance are confirmed with ATCUAE for your specific vehicle, since both depend on vehicle type and value.
Cases that need a conversation
If the vehicle is still under a bank loan, it cannot be exported. The finance has to be settled and the vehicle released before we can move it.
